Mimir is a shard that hails from the 9th reflection, he grew up during the storm surge and like many others was struck by levin sickness causing him to be bedridden from a young age. Since there was no cure for this sickness it would only fester and cause more damage as time went on. He lost his eyesight at a very young age and since he was bedridden he didn't get to experience a normal childhood of going to school or making friends. However he did have one friend that he met trough his mothers friend. A energetic and cheerful boy named Peridot who seemed to be around his age, however the levin sickness did not discriminate and soon he'd lose the only friend he ever had.

Around the time when the calamity was at it's worse he heard a voice calling out to him in the middle of the night, telling him to follow it. It was a gentle voice yet it spoke with urgency. This voice would later be revealed to belong to Hydaelyn who guided Mimir to the source. He ended up in the Dravanian Hinterlands and was raised by Matoya while learning how to become an astrologian.

Eventually out of boredome and wanting to become independent they set out to travel Eorzea and became a marks hunter. Most people would underestimate them at first due to their blindness but their keen sense of smell and hearing made up for their lack of eyesight. During one particular hunt for an infamous s rank that had been plaguing the snowy outskirts of Garlemald they ended up meeting quite the unexpected traveling companion. A voidsent trapped in the body of a doll and surprisingly enough capable of speech. Instead of capturing it and killing it to collect the reward Mimir decided to spare it's life and so their long and arduous journey began as Hydaelyn's chosens.
